The Association of Fire Protection Specialists (ASFP) has been awarded Gold Status Signatory recognition by the Conflict Avoidance Coalition, reflecting its leadership in promoting collaborative working and reducing wasteful contractual disputes across the passive fire protection sector. ASFP will also be a key sponsor of the Coalition’s second conference later this year.
ASFP represents a broad cross-section of the industry, including manufacturers, installers, distributors, testing authorities, fire engineers, assessors and other specialist organisations. Through its work, the Association actively encourages behaviours and contractual measures that address emerging conflict early and support the avoidance, management and amicable resolution of disputes.
ASFP is a member of the Conflict Avoidance Coalition and a signatory to the Conflict Avoidance Pledge. The pledge commits signatories to fostering collaboration, tackling issues at an early stage, and implementing cost-effective mechanisms to prevent disputes escalating.
A key factor in the Coalition’s decision to award Gold Status is ASFP’s requirement that signing the Conflict Avoidance Pledge is a condition of membership. This approach demonstrates ASFP’s commitment to embedding best practice across its membership and driving positive cultural change throughout the passive fire protection sector.
Commenting on the recognition, Mike Ward, Managing Director of ASFP, said:
“The award of Gold Status by the Conflict Avoidance Coalition recognises the importance ASFP places on collaborative working and early engagement to prevent disputes before they arise. By making the Conflict Avoidance Pledge a condition of membership, we are sending a clear message that better behaviours, openness and proportionate contractual measures are essential to improving outcomes for the industry as a whole.”
